From Greek legend Hygieia to Vedic Sushruta, pharmacy has been evolving ever since the ancient civilizations. The first college for pharmacy was established in Philadelphia in 1821. In general, pharmacy is related to the study and development of various medicinal drugs.

Medicines prescribed by doctors are made from various compositions of herbs, minerals and so forth. They are tested in laboratories and clinical trials are conducted. These medicines are then approved by the regulatory body of a nation and released into the market. Thereafter, the customer reviews are taken, the market surveys are conducted and the side-effects are observed. Pharmacists are involved in the entire procedure.
